Global CINEMATHEQUE is a Los Angeles based organization that celebrates international cinema by putting a spotlight on films and filmmakers from around the world.

In February 2020, Global CINEMATHEQUE launched with the first World Cinema Awards; a standalone event created to honor and spotlight the talent in productions produced outside of the United States in the official language of the producers and directors of the films.

International film festival and film museum directors, programmers, curators and US-based film journalists formed the selection committee, bringing together two communities that are immersed in the global cinema landscape throughout the year.

In 2021, Global CINEMATHEQUE invited audiences to FILM at LACMA, Curated by Global CINEMATHEQUE, a free online screening series of new films from global auteurs. The series was a showcase of singular voices, emerging and master auteurs, and award-winning filmmakers with official selections that first premiered at film festivals around the world; in Berlin, Cannes, Locarno, Rotterdam and Toronto.
